Dr. Shaunna Mayers grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and pursued her dream to become a physical therapist. She traveled to Andrews University for college, received a Bachelors in Exercise Science in 2009, and graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2011. Driven to provide the best care for her patients, she pursued her Manual Therapy Certification through North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). Additionally, she is certified in dry needling through MyoPain Seminars. Shaunna attended all three levels of Stucco Fascial Manipulation focusing on the biomechanical model of superficial fascia, deep fascia, and internal fascial dysfunction.

Early in her career, Shaunna developed a passion for complex orthopedic conditions, myofascial pain, and a special interest in pelvic pain. She enjoys treating women’s health and pelvic conditions, helping females in all phases of life including puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, menopause, and the senior year achieve their best possible life. She has spent extensive time focusing on breast cancer rehab, and is a lymphedema certified therapist for the upper extremity.

 

Shaunna is a Credentialed Clinical Instructor through the American Physcial Therapy Association, and was honored to receive Virginia Commonwealth’s award for Clinical Instructor of the Year in 2016.

When she is not at work, you can find her with her husband, Luke, and her dog, Bella. They enjoy boating, wakeboarding, wake surfing, skiing, camping, and hiking.
